Recently someone told me that I have the skin of someone in their 20s. It's a nice compliment but I know I definitely look over 40 and maybe my skin does look youthful but it certainly is ageing due to my declining hormones. But, for sure, I can recommend one thing that definitely contributes to the condition of my skin. It is OMEGA 3. I really don't care what the bottle says, I take 2 Omega 3 tablets per day and I slather Omega 3 on my skin every day in the form of Hempseed Oil. Everyday.
Here's the science behind OMEGA-3 and your skin. Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their numerous health benefits, including positive effects on skin health. Here are some reasons why Omega-3s are good for the skin:
1. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA, have strong anti-inflammatory effects that can help reduce inflammation in the skin, which can be beneficial for conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
2. Hydration Retention: Omega-3s help reinforce the skin's lipid barrier, which aids in moisture retention. This can lead to better hydration levels and improved skin elasticity, making the skin appear more supple.
3. Protection Against UV Damage: Some studies suggest that Omega-3 fatty acids can help protect the skin from harmful UV rays and reduce the risk of sunburn. They may also help modulate the skin's response to sun exposure.
4. Reduction of Dryness and Scaling: Omega-3s can mitigate dryness and scaling of the skin, making them beneficial for people with dry skin conditions.
5. Support for Cell Membranes: Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial components of cell membranes, contributing to their structure and function. Healthy cell membranes are vital for overall skin health.
6. Promotion of Wound Healing: Omega-3s can promote faster wound healing and tissue repair through their anti-inflammatory effects and modulation of cellular activity.
7. Youthful Appearance: By supporting hydration, reducing inflammation, and promoting skin elasticity, Omega-3s can contribute to a more youthful appearance, potentially reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
8. Hormonal Balance: Omega-3 fatty acids may help regulate hormones and reduce hormonal fluctuations that sometimes contribute to acne and other skin issues.
You can add Omega-3-rich foods, such as fatty fish (like salmon), flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts, into your diet or considering Omega-3 supplements can be beneficial for maintaining healthy skin. However, don't take my word for it, ask your doctor or other healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet or using supplements.
Hempseed all is rich in Omega-3 and my "go-to" Hempseeed Oil daily skincare product is our Hemp and Co-Enzyme Q10 Serum.
